  This is an interesting question. Has anyone had any experience with getting through security with scuba gear in there carry on bag. If anyone can share any tips or stories relate to their experiences.

  well I went on a training conference fro the Army for a couple of days and because I was able to check 2 bags I did not have a problem., I just rented tanks there. another trip i took my modular bc and no weights I usually have asave a dive/accessory baf=g, but I jus ttook a save a dive kit( a small plastic half shoe box size container.

  Here in Australia it's not a problem and the same with getting into Bali (Indonesia) and Thailand.

  In the US now its become a bit of a challenge with all the new regulations from worrying about terrorists

  Has any one tried to bring their dive computer. To the TSA it looks odd and has a battery. I would be nervous to check my dive computer. Thing go missing from checked bags or the bag just never show up on the other end.

  believe it or not packing your computer is pretty safe, I did it in Sep and it was there, I'd avoid the hassle of the hand carry

  I have traveled quite a bit with my gear under the plane (over a dozen in the past 6 years and never lost any gear

  Has anyone travel with scuba gear in the last couple of months? I would be interested to see if the requirements have changes.

  Last February and March I travelled to Puerto Rico, and had no problems either way. Two years before when going to the Bahamas with postgrads, Security in Lauderdale tried to view my canister light battery like it was explosive ordinance. Finally a manager stepped in tested it for explosives and told the worker, "He's a scientist." They then left me alone.

  I'm late to the party, but I travel quite a bit and here are my experiences with scuba gear in carry-ons:
  
  Dive computers: Never a problem. Most of the time I treat them like a laptop and pull them out of the carry-on, but sometimes not.
  
  Regulators: Not a problem anymore, TSA finally has finally learned what they are. For a few years after 9/11 they would always pull the regulator out of the carry-on and look it over, but they've gradually figured it out.
  
  Camera housing: Always get inspected. My video housing is all aluminum (Amphibico) and shows up as a big black box on the x-ray so they almost always pull it aside and go through it. I think of the roughly two dozen trips I've taken the housing with only twice have they let it go without pulling it aside.
  
  TSA seems much more concerned about liquids in carry-ons than they do with scuba gear.
  
  I put everything else in checked baggage, only once have I had a problem with delayed bags and they were delivered in time for the next day's afternoon dives.
